Damon Dash and Stacey Dash, once close cousins with a shared business partnership, saw their relationship deteriorate due to Stacey’s divergent political views and unsuccessful business ventures.

Stacey Dash was once a popular actress but later became controversial because of her strong opinions on social and political issues. 

Many people criticized her for this, and she lost support in Hollywood. 

Her relationship with her cousin Damon Dash also suffered because of their differences.

The Genesis of the bitter fallout between Stacey Dash and Damon Dash

By 2016, Damon had had enough, particularly as Stacey’s appearances on FOX News became more frequent.

“I think FOX pays her to say that stuff,” Damon said in an interview with Boyce Watkins. “I know how Fox is. 

You know how manipulative they are. 

I think they wanted her to do something that would stir up conversation, and she did it. 

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t done for free.”

While Damon acknowledged that Stacey was entitled to her opinions, he believed her statements were uninformed and harmful. 

He even likened her to a “coon,” a term often used to describe a Black person perceived as betraying their community.

The legal threats 

One year later, there were several reports indicating that Stacey was considering legal action against Damon. 

She claimed he used her name and likeness in his film, “Honor Up,” without her permission. 

Although she had collaborated with Damon on previous films, she asserted that she had no involvement with “Honor Up.”

Stacey had previously disclosed that Damon, along with other close friends and family, had cut off contact with her because of her political stance.

During a 2014 interview with Edit Magazine, the actress mentioned that Dame and several other family members had stopped talking to her because of her political opinions.

What is the current status? Will they ever reunite?

“At the moment, my family and I haven’t spoken. My cousin Damon and my brother were role models to me because they were great capitalists,” she said previously.

 “Now, we’re not really talking because they were the ones who told me to keep my mouth shut. 

They felt that I should do certain things because I’m black. Certain friends don’t speak to me anymore either.”

The cousins continue to be estranged. Both have faced their own personal challenges, with Damon encountering financial difficulties and Stacey experiencing marital problems. 

Despite these struggles, it seems that even personal hardships have not brought the family back together.
