Richard Wilson, a 21-year-old man from Arizona, faces charges for killing his family.

Authorities took him into custody after the deaths of his 47-year-old father, also named Richard Wilson, his 50-year-old mother Ellen Otterman, his 16-year-old sister Rudy Wilson, and his 5-year-old niece Renaya White.

On Monday, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office announced on Facebook that they received an urgent call from a house near Casa Grande at about 1:45 p.m.

It turned out Rudy had made the call to the police. Arriving officers discovered four bodies in a relative’s home.

Deputies arrested Wilson at the scene. He is now in Pinal County Jail, facing four charges of first-degree murder, with bail set at $2.5 million.

Sheriff Mark Lamb expressed his sorrow over the incident, stating,:

“A terrible tragedy struck our community yesterday. This heinous act will deeply affect everyone who knew the family.

Though we can’t bring back their loved ones, my thoughts and support go out to all those grieving.”

Fox 10’s report on court documents reveals that police saw a man leaving a trailer when they arrived.

The man, identified as Richard Wilson IV, told deputies, “I’m over here, take me to jail,” as they came closer.

The documents describe the victims as having injuries from blunt force and cuts to their necks from a sharp weapon.

Joy Moreno, a neighbor, told ABC15 that the event was frightening, especially because it happened so close.

She noted that police cars remained in the area until about 3:30 a.m.

Another neighbor, Joy Moreno, mentioned to CBS that the 5-year-old girl who died was always seen playing outside, laughing, and appeared very happy.

ABC15 reported from police sources that Rudy tried to call for help with a knife being the murder weapon.

However, her call was cut off, and she too was killed.

The police haven’t revealed why it happened.

The young man’s next court appearance is set for September 13.

It’s unknown if he has a lawyer.

PEOPLE didn’t get a response from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
